Chainsaw Safety Level 1

This course is certified through the Safety and Woods Working (SAWW) training program and is part of a four-level series designed to increase safety and efficiency of chainsaw use. The Level One class will cover proper body mechanics in chainsaw use, personal protective equipment, tools necessary in safely felling trees and their use, proper saw maintenance including sharpening, considerations for felling a tree, releasing limbs and spring poles under pressure, and more, plus demonstrations of tree felling, limbing, bucking and topping. Participants will spend 4 hours indoors doing the classroom portion, take a break for lunch, then go into the woods for at least 2 hours of practical experience using the techniques.

Level 1 Cost: $95 KWC Members  – $115 Non Members
Prerequisite: None for this class
Class Size: 15 students max.  Classes fill rapidly register today,
What to bring:  Dress for the weather.  A portion of this class will be held in the field. Your own Personal Protective Equipment if you have it. Your own lunch or go to La Farge for lunch. Water Bottle. Your chainsaw if you have one
