Getting Started with Regenerative Land Management

September 14, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Are you looking to manage your land for food or forest production AND conservation? Join us at a field day for landowners and beginning farmers near Larsen, WI to explore options for regenerative farming and woodland stewardship.

The hosts, Eric and Sandra Jones, raised and butchered 50 meat chickens on pasture this year, keep 17 laying hens, have a large garden, and manage 120 acres of woodland in Winnebago County. The Joneses completed a successful timber harvest last year, but do not currently sell their farm products commercially. They are committed to improving soil health and supporting biodiversity through practices such as cover cropping, pollinator plantings, and perennial polycultures.

Educators from USDA-NRCS, Golden Sands RC&D, UW-Madison Extension and Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems, and WI DNR will be on hand to share resources and discuss considerations for getting started with managed grazing, vegetable or flower production, farm business planning, agroforestry, woodland management and other enterprises. The field day includes a walking tour of the property. There is no charge to attend, but space is limited.

Register on-line by 9/8/21.
