Mastering the basics of chainsaw safety is essential for woodland owners who want to be more active on their land. This course is certified through the Safety and Woods Worker (SAWW) training program and part of a four-level series designed to increase safety and efficiency of chainsaw use.
The hands-on training and close supervision in this course gives participants the opportunity and confidence to fell at least one tree. Level IV is the last in the series of courses for private landowners. Come and learn how to safely limb and buck trees that you have been safely felling for firewood or as part of your timber stand improvement projects. You will learn tips and tricks to minimize damage to logs that you want to extract from your woods and techniques to improve efficiency while limbing and bucking. This is an advanced course; levels 1 to 3 are prerequisites to attend.
Class limit: 10
Instructor: Nathan Stanford. Nathan has 18 years of chainsaw training experience serving as a certified trainer through SAWW and being a “C” certifier for the U.S. Forest Service.
