July 15, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

$30

Learn About Your Land is a series of classes from UW-Madison Extension Forestry intended for Wisconsin woodland owners. These classes introduce landowners to forestry topics and local DNR foresters. All classes will run about 1 hour with the last 15 minutes reserved for YOUR QUESTIONS. The online only classes this July will feature DNR foresters from Bayfield and Douglas Counties.

Session 1 – People, programs and planning: Assistance with your woodland
Thursday July 15, 9-10am CT
This session will link you to the people, programs and organizations that offer technical and financial assistance for all aspects of your woodland. We will also review the beginning steps of woodland management. Start by considering what is important to you and the resources needed to make your vision a reality.

Session 2 – Keeping your woods healthy: The signs and symptoms of sick trees
Thursday July 22, 9-10am CT
A healthy woodland provides many benefits. Do you have injured or dying trees? This session will review the insects, diseases, animals, nonnative species, environmental factors and improper management that can affect the health of your woodland. You’ll learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of sick trees and who to call with concerns.

Session 3 – Goods from the woods: Gathering non-timber forest products from your woods
Thursday July 29, 9-10am CT
Ever wonder what useful products you can produce or gather from your woods? Join us for an overview of woodland products such as maple syrup, mushrooms, firewood, berries and herbs. We will discuss considerations for collecting each and resources to get started.

Pre-Registrations is required.
Fees must be paid by July 9 to access the first week of classes.
We will host a technical check-in prior to the first class so participants can test the virtual classroom.
