September 15, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - September 22, 2020 @ 8:00 pm

$10 – $25

Session 1: PEOPLE, PROGRAMS AND PLANNING: ASSISTANCE WITH YOUR WOODLANDS

Tuesday September 15, 6-8 PM

The creation of a healthy woodland requires knowledge of forestry techniques and  investment of time and money. This session will link you to the people, programs and organizations that offer technical and financial assistance for all aspects of your woodland. We will also review the beginning steps of woodland management. Start by considering what is important to you and the resources needed to make your vision a reality.

Session 2: INTRODUCTION TO TIMBER HARVESTING AND SALES

Tuesday September 22, 6-8 PM

Learn how to decide which, if any, trees should be selected for cutting and why. Gain an understanding of what is meant by thinning, selection harvest, group selection harvest, clear cut and shelterwood harvest. Learn the benefits of removing some trees as well as the reasons for not cutting others. You will be introduced to the steps and timeline of a successful timber sale, from deciding what to harvest to final closeout. This workshop will provide guidance on selecting a logger, why a timber sale contract is important and the supervisory steps involved in conducting a harvest.

Session 3: WILDLIFE AND WOODLAND MANAGEMENT

Tuesday September 29, 6-8 PM

Learn how to enhance your woodlands to attract a variety of wildlife. This session identifies the four requirements to attracting wildlife to your land — space, water, food and shelter — and offers tips on how to manage your woods to improve the wildlife potential.

SPACE IS LIMITED BASED ON CDC GUIDANCE, SO PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. REGISTER HERE.

If you are more comfortable attending this class at home you can JOIN US VIRTUALLY INSTEAD. During the registration process, choose the “webinar” option, and we will send you connection information and a help document to connect to the live class from home via Zoom.
