Learn About Your Land is a UW-Madison Extension Forestry program intended for Wisconsin woodland owners. The series of classes introduces landowners to forestry topics and local DNR foresters.

This series will be held in-person at the Center Town Hall in Appleton, WI and feature the DNR forester from Outagamie County. All classes will run 1.5 hours with the last 30 minutes reserved for YOUR QUESTIONS.

Session 1: Get to Know Your Local Trees and Invasive Plants – Thursday, September 1, 6:30-8 PM CT

Join a forester as you get to know what trees are in your woods.  We will review the major trees and invasive plants you will likely find on your property, how to identify others when you return to your property, and learn some ways trees are used.

Session 2: Invite Wildlife to Your Woodland – Thursday, September 8, 6:30-8 PM CT

Learn to enhance your woodlands to attract a variety of wildlife. This session identifies the four requirements to attracting wildlife to your land: space, water, food and shelter, as well as how you can manage your woods to improve wildlife habitat.

Session 3: Success with Tree Planting – Thursday, September 15, 6:30-8 PM CT

This session will identify what is needed to successfully plant and nurture new trees. Learn which trees will grow best on your land, how to prepare your land, techniques for planting, and how to care for newly planted trees.
