Western Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association Conference
March 25, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
The conference will begin with important informational updates about the realignment of DNR Forestry, along with updates on woodland insects and diseases you should be aware of and the current activities of your Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association. Next, an expert speaker from the DNR Forest Products Service will provide information on hardwood markets and wood utilization. Representatives from 4-Control, Inc. will then discuss identification and control of woodland invasive species that may be infesting your property. The morning session will end with an exciting presentation on how silviculture enhances bird populations in your woodlands.
In the afternoon, Jamie Nack from UW-Madison will discuss tips for engaging the next generation of landowners in the conservation of their lands. A representative from the National Weather Service will then share his expertise in weather forecasting for our changing climate. The afternoon session will conclude with an in-depth discussion on the issues of managing wells and water quality on your property moderated by Paul McGinley from UW-Stevens Point.
This is a great opportunity to get to know other woodland owners and share your experiences. Professional foresters and woodland management contractors will also be available to discuss your issues and answer your questions.
