Winter Tree Identification Field Day

Richland County Land Conservation Committee and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are hosting a field day event on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Ash Creek Community Forest in Richland County.

A new trail map sign will be unveiled at 1 p.m. Attendees are welcome to join the local DNR forester for a guided afternoon hike. Bring hiking shoes or bikes and enjoy the trails that Ash Creek Community Forest has to offer.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., participants will practice winter tree identification by looking at various characteristics such as bark, buds and twigs. Forestry related questions and discussions are also welcome. This event is free to all participants. Please be prepared to hike and dress appropriately for current weather conditions.
