Bio

I grew up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and studied Forest Management at Michigan Technological University. In my free time, I enjoy biking, gardening, dancing, and music. My choice to become a forester was influenced through the enjoyment of recreation on industrial forest land. Forest management allows forests to stay intact and usable for profit, recreation, and wildlife habitat. Finding a balance between multiple goals on forest land is the most rewarding part of being a forester.

What I like about Ashland and Bayfield Counties: I enjoy the variety in landscape and culture. The people here have their own histories and reasons for owning forest land.

Bio

I discovered my love of the outdoors while pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Ecosystem Restoration and Management at UW-Stevens Point. In my free time I enjoy hiking, canoeing, camping, and foraging wild edibles with my wife and retired sled dog.

What I like about Bayfield County: The diverse ecosystems located throughout the county supports a wide array of plant and wildlife species. In the spring I like to search the flood plains and sugar maple forests for wild leeks and spring ephemerals. In the summer I go to the sand barrens to forage for berries and nuts. In the fall there are plenty of hunting opportunities. In the winter, there are miles of trails for snowshoeing and skiing.
